God Is and We Aren’t

Satan is the Father of Lies and one of his bigger deceptions was initiated with Adam and Eve in the garden when he said, “…you will be like God.” They believed him and so has mankind. If we can be like God, what do we need him for? As a result of this deception, man has attempted to supplant God in so many areas of life and continues to do so to this day. Man believes he can create a world better than that created by the Almighty God. And so we attempt cloning; we search for eternal youth and a cure for death; we practice lifestyles contrary to God’s intent; we rid ourselves of inconvenient life in the form of abortion; we attempt to control the birth process through in vitro fertilization, surrogate parents, and choosing the sex of the child through artificial insemination; we redefine marriage to mean something that was never intended; and yet in it all, we only fool ourselves; He is God and we aren’t.

The truth is, God is the creator of all that is good and beautiful. Mankind is the creator of chaos and destruction. Here are a couple of illustrations, since a picture can often tell a better story than words.

Mankind creates this:

God created this:

Fall in the Ozarks

Some may say that since God created man, then he is the author of all that mankind has done to destroy his creation. What they don’t understand is that because God loves mankind he has given us free will, for what creator would create puppets void of the ability to make choices? It is free will that allows us to turn against God and pretend that we don’t need him and delude ourselves into believing we can supplant him; a fool’s errand. It is also free will that leads us back to God. When we realize the truth, that he is God and we aren’t, we relieve ourselves of a burden we were never intended to bear.
